The Apple trees create beautiful bushes and trees and are very popular thanks to their blooms and nice colorful Autumn fruit.
Light: Keep in sunny places.
Temperature and exposure
Resists very cold winter, but roots must be protected. Shallow bonsai pots don't offer enough protection to roots at all.
Pruning and forming
Cut new sprouts and divide them into one or two. Twigs should be cut when Autumn comes.
Soil and replanting
Replant the Apple bonsai every year early during Spring before you notice the first sprouts. Use soil which consists of three parts of argillaceous rock, 5 parts of peat, and 2 parts of sand or granulate clay.
Watering and fertilization
Water this bonsai daily during vegetation. When it gives fruit, the tree requires a lot of water otherwise fruit becomes shrinked and recede. The plant has inclined to vine mildew. Fertilize weekly until it starts blooming. Once the tree gives fruit, don't fertilize. Moreover, fertilization shouldn't be done until the fruit has finished its growth. Otherwise the leaves and limbs could grow at the expense of fruit.
By grafting and by seeds in Autumn. Immerge during Summer and Spring.
The Informal Upright style, The Bevelled style, The Half-Cascade style, The Double-Base style, The Forest style. It is suitable for all bonsai sizes.
